Overview

About Pneumatic Seals

Pneumatic cylinders and valves work with compressed air at comparatively low pressure and often at high cycle rates. Seals for this duty are designed for low friction, smooth starting and good performance with minimal lubrication.

Sealing Technologies supplies pneumatic piston seals, rod seals, rod seal and wiper combinations, cushioning seals and static seals for industrial automation and general plant equipment. Tell us the cylinder size and operating conditions and we will help identify a suitable seal.

Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

How do pneumatic seals differ from hydraulic seals?

Pneumatic seals work at comparatively low pressure with air as the medium, so they are designed for low friction and limited lubrication. Hydraulic seals are designed to hold fluid at much higher pressure and to resist extrusion.

What details are needed to identify a pneumatic seal?

Cylinder bore and rod diameter, groove dimensions, the seal profile and the operating conditions. A sample or photograph of the existing seal is also helpful.
